Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto will host its third annual Heart Healthy Spring Fling on Saturday, April 5th from 8 a.m. to noon. This heart-focused health fair is designed for those who desire to live healthier lifestyles in 2014 and is free to the public.
We take pride in our unique approach to hosting a health fair. This year’s fair is designed to provide tangible tools for our target audiences so they will leave with everything they need to implement healthy lifestyle changes immediately. We will provide:
· Free heart risk assessment screenings: Blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and body mass index followed by consultation by health experts if needed.
· Fresh produce offered onsite at wholesale prices.
· Chats with experts from the Stern Cardiovascular Foundation every hour.
· Live exercise demonstrations with exercise bands to take home.
· Healthy cooking demonstrations from hospital nutritionists with free recipe cards and cooking tips.
· A variety of heart healthy give-a-ways every 20 minutes.
We will start the event with a 5k walk/race in partnership with the DeSoto County Greenways. Additionally, we are working with local city governments to challenge our cities to be healthy and support each other through the heart healthy fair.
We’d like to extend an invitation to you to join our health fair as a vendor. If your business supports healthy lifestyles, we want you to be part of our effort. Please see the following guidelines of how to participate in our fair:
· Vendors must have a representative at their booth at all times (8 – noon)
· A 6’ table and 2 chairs will be provided for each vendor along with a colorful table cloth. You may bring your own table cloth to promote your services if desired.
· Vendors will have an opportunity to capture the names of attendees at their booths.
· In lieu of a fee, we ask that each vendor contribute a door prize valued at $50 or greater that we can give out during the fair.
· All vendor booths need to be interactive. We don’t want our fair to be a place where people collect paper pamphlets. We want it to be a place that our audience leaves feeling like they can take active steps to making a change. Your booth will be most effective if you can think of a creative way to interact with those stopping by.
· If you are a food vendor, please be prepared to offer only healthy choices.
· We’d like a variety of vendors and are encouraging all forms of vendors to join us to help the mind body and spirits of our target audiences.
If you are interested in being a vendor in the 2014 Heart Healthy Health Fair or would like more information about the event, please email me, Julie Hollingsworth, at Julie.Hollingsworth@bmhcc.org. I look forward to hearing from you and I hope you can join us for this event.
